An Outline of the “Da Vinci Code” Intellectual Property Case:
- The controversial non-fiction book “The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail”, written by Michael Baigent, Richard Leigh and Henry Lincoln, was first published in 1982 by Jonathan Cape in London.

US$30 Million and Operation Shut Down to avoid a US Copyright Infringement Lawsuit
The December 2006 edition of the magazine Australian PC User is the “Digital Audio SuperGuide” (see: http://www.pcuser.com.au/pcuser/hs2.nsf/dir/LatestEdition).
On page 77 on the page titled: “Help Station > Peer to peer” there is an interesting side-bar article i.e. Title: “The end of eDonkey”.
Basically the owners / maintainers of eDonkey2000 (MetaMachine) were forced to shut down their operations in September 2006. This was part of the deal, along with the payment of US$30 Million to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), to avoid a Copyright Infringement Lawsuit.
The Website Address for Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) is http://www.riaa.com (at the time of this Blog posting … the RIAA site was unavailable).
“The end of eDonkey” article also notes that the MetaMachine deal “follows successful lawsuits against Kazaa, LimeWire, Grokster, Napster and other peer-to-peer application developers”.

FUTURE ONLINE COURSE DEVELOPMENT AIMS:
- One of the main reasons I am completing the Diploma of E-Learning is because I would like to develop, with Wendy Campbell (fellow teacher in the Graphic Design Team, and fellow student in the Diploma of E-Learning), on online program in Visual Website Design for the Brisbane North Institute of TAFE i.e. Graduate Vocational Certificate in Visual Website Design progressing through to a Graduate Vocational Diploma in Visual Website Design
- It would be great if we could get this up and running for an intake in Semester 2 2007 ... but there is a lot of work to be done first!
Finally, I hope you find the CUFADM02A Address Copyright WebCT Online Course a useful educational experience. It will enable continuing "transition" students from the "old" qualification ICA50599 Diploma of IT - Multimedia Integration (Animation & Visual Effects) to successfully move into the "new / replacement" program CUF60101 Advanced Diploma of Screen (Visual Effects) - and more importantly, on graduation gain their qualification CUF60101 Advanced Diploma of Screen (Visual Effects).
Thanks for Janice Cook and Mark Jones (from the Brisbane North Institute of TAFE Library Service) for their support, guidance and involvement in setting up this course - CUFADM02A Address Copyright WebCT Online Course.
Pauline :-)
